INA SHKURTI
I am a geographer with over a decade of experience collaborating with communities and organizations across Latin America and Amazonia. My work centers on territorial, cultural, and oral history mapping as tools for supporting collective rights and self-governance.
I specialize in community-based mapping methods and cartographies, including facilitating field trainings, designing data stewardship strategies, and producing maps for legal advocacy. My approach is grounded in long-term partnerships and a commitment to challenging dominant narratives by centering local and Indigenous perspectives.
I hold a BA in Geography and a Certificate in Geographic Information Science and Technology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and am currently pursuing graduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
I am fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and Albanian, and am currently working on my Portuguese.
